We are a professional licensed New Zealand company working in the building industry Featureworks was started by Master mason Tim Hanifin in 2002. We specialise in masonry construction utilising a wide variety of locally sourced materials.
Being a Canterbury based company, we have worked extensively with the reconstruction, and repairs of buildings, retaining walls and masonry features, which were devastated in the not so distant destruction of the Christchurch earthquakes.
Your projects are of the utmost importance to us. We take pride in our craft and our construction work meets the high standards set by both the New Zealand authority building codes, our own professional standards, and we use Hazardco Health and Safety policy and plans. We can construct both a block wall and also clad it in natural stone. This ensures that both the foundation construction and the cladding work meet our stringent standards. Tim learned the art of stonemasonry, block and bricklaying and became fully qualified on completion of his apprenticeship in 1999.
The full spectrum of laying masonry in modern and contemporary styles was mastered during the extensive work in the South Island that included the restoration of stone churches in Timaru, schist, brick and block
building projects in the Mackenzie District.
Tim had much demand for his masonry craft skills, and in 2002 created his own business Featureworks Ltd, in Christchurch NZ.
Gary has 4 years experience in brick & block work and brings a wealth of knowledge to the Featureworks (stone) table. Following in Tim’s footsteps in his quest to become a master of the trade.
Using brick, block and natural stone in home construction, can contribute to insulation due to the thermal mass of the stone. Being non- combustible, it can protect buildings from fire, and because mostly does not require painting for protection, it is cost effective throughout its life. Stone lasts a lifetime When constructed using good quality materials and skilled workmanship, masonry provides a very durable form of building. Featureworks can build anything stone, brick or block.
